Captions per platform
One caption everywhere, or each platform its own, within its limit.
Each platform counts differently, and pickthepost counts the way each one does: what you see as one character (even an emoji family) counts as one.
| Platform | Limit |
|---|---|
| 2,200 characters and 30 hashtags | |
| Threads | 500 characters |
| Bluesky | 300 characters |
| About 63,000 characters |
Give a platform its own caption
- Under the caption, open the platform's tab. A red dot on a tab means its limit is passed.
- Switch on Give it its own caption. pickthepost starts it for you: the hashtag lines removed, cut at the last full sentence within the limit.
- Edit it as you like. Fit it to starts again from the main caption.
Posts cannot be scheduled while a caption is over its limit, so nothing is ever cut off by a platform.
Snippets and templates
Save text you reuse (a sign-off, a hashtag set) with Save caption as snippet, and insert it with Insert a snippet. Save as post template keeps the accounts, captions and first comments for posts you make often.
