Connect Bluesky

What Bluesky needs, and how connecting works.

What you need

• A Bluesky account.
• An app password: in Bluesky, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then App passwords, and add one.

Connect it

1. In Bluesky, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then App passwords, and add one. Copy it.
2. In pickthepost, open Accounts and press Connect Bluesky.
3. Enter your handle and paste the app password. pickthepost tries it with Bluesky first and keeps it only if it works.

How connecting works

An app password can post for you but cannot change your account settings, and deleting it in Bluesky cuts pickthepost off straight away. Your real Bluesky password is never used.

Check that it works

Open Accounts. Each account shows working when its key works, with the name it posts as. Press Check to test it again. The robot also checks every account once a day.
